Lynch Space gives new space companies experienced engineers for each phase of the space development lifecycle, from concept studies to on-orbit operations.
Systems and chief engineering
Architecture, trades, interfaces and technical leadership for small teams moving fast.
Requirements and verification
Requirements development and management (Jama), verification plans, and compliance through CDR.
Assembly, integration and test
Test procedures, functional and environmental test reports, and closure of open items.
Mission concept and design studies
Concept development and design studies that don't pull your team off day-to-day work.
Proposal support
We augment your proposal team: project management plan, systems engineering plan, EMI/EMC plan, fault management.
Project management
Schedules, risk, status reporting and subcontract management.
Where we help
From first sketch to on-orbit operations.
Concept → Requirements → Preliminary design → Final design → Assembly, integration and test → Launch → Operations. Bring us in at one phase or all of them.
Over 70 years of combined space experience.
Our engineers have helped deliver flagship NASA missions and now support commercial space companies.
Flagship missions
James Webb Space Telescope, Lunar Prospector, Restore-L, and Mars Sample Return concepts.
Lunar science
Systems engineering on the Lunar Farside Technosignature and Transients Telescope (LFT3).
Capabilities
Communications, cryogenics, detectors, human spaceflight systems, launch vehicles, orbital design, telescopes and EMI/EMC.
Clients
Trusted by commercial space teams.
We support commercial space station, spaceplane, propulsion and lunar science programs.
Current and recent clients

Richard founded Lynch Space in 2025 to bring flagship-mission experience to new space companies. He began his career on Lunar Prospector at Lockheed Missiles and Space, then held roles at Orbital Sciences and The Aerospace Corporation before serving as JWST Spacecraft Manager and Deputy Observatory Manager at NASA Goddard and working on Restore-L. At Heliospace he supported Mars Sample Return and LFT3. Richard is a Fellow of The Explorers Club, serves on the LEAG Commercial Advisory Board, judges systems engineering for NASA Lunabotics, and founded Lynx Exploration, a lunar water company.
